AB's Useful Box - Toast to Nero DVD images
Sometimes you can be up against the wall, seemingly with no possible way of solving a problem, and then the solutions comes and it turns out be so simple.
In this situation the daughter had a school signment video in EyeTV, that needed to handed in the next day on a DVD that could be played back on a standard DVD player.
The EyeTV video was on a Mac Book Pro, that needed to have the application Toast downloaded and installed. $150 and 900MB of downloads later, toast was installed ready to go.
Video file was exported from EyeTV to Toast. But then Toast could not burn the DVD to disc. Appeared the DVD in the MBP would not recognise the DVD-R for as yet unknown reasons. Went and purchased to different manufactures of DVD-R, but with the same non result.
How could we get the video from the Mac to a standard format DVD.
Toast had a function to save the video as an image, soulds worth a try. Did the export, but appeared to save it as a 'toast' specific disk image file format, with the file name 'video.toast'.
We also have a PC with Nero. Now Nero can import and burn what seemed to be 100's of different image formats, but no, not '.toast' formated image files.
One thinks, 'what if we rename the toast image to iso instead, woth a try', so renamed the image file from "video.toast" to "video.iso". Then used Nero to burnt the image to a standard DVD.
It worked!!
It would appear the Toast image format, is infact a standard "iso" format, rename the file extention, and you can burn the image to a blank DVD using the likes of Nero.
