The circuit, is a tried and proven design with some of our own improvements. The circuit and board is a kit from April 1988 Silicon Chip Magazine.

Some of our recommended improvements are:-

• increase mains transformer to 13.2Volts
• increase main power capacitor to 22,000uf
• a real heat sink for the main power transistors

These controllers have been tested under real conditions, supplying a maximum full load of 5amps and have run exhibitions layouts for a week of continuous running. What has sold many enthusiast on our controllers is that they are capable of high current(loads) but still have a sensitive short circuit overload and cut out.
