• A short video was viewed on the history and significance of the Holy Meteora. The Meteora are a number of large stone pinnacles located in northern Greece, with monastic communities built on them dating back many hundreds of years.

• A session was held, in which the group was shown the process by which we make the Offertory Bread (Prosphoron), which is taken to the Church to be used in the Holy Communion. A number of very tasty Prosphora were baked and eaten.

• A brief overview of what is commemorated on each day of the Holy Week was given, and the significance of this period of the year was emphasised.

• The group gathered together in the joy of Bright Week to celebrate our Lord’s Resurrection with a very tasty common meal of Gyro, and the traditional cracking of the red eggs. Χριστός Ανέστη!

A variety of Orthodox books were presented and recommended to the group, including:

• -Advice and counsels from Elder Paisios about the spiritual life (three volumes written in Greek)
• -Elder Philotheos Zervakos
• -St Arsenios the Cappadocian ( a book written by Elder Paisios)
• -St Silouan the Athonite
• -Father Arseny
• -The Holy Unmercenary Doctors
• -Counsels for Life- from the life and teachings of Fr Epiphanios Theodoropoulos
• -The Sacred Gift of Life- An Orthodox Christian View on Bioethics, by John Becks

In the discussion that followed, the following areas were covered: incorrupt saints, the Holy Light in Jerusalem, proof of the Resurrection and that God will judge us based on our effort live according to His will and be close to Him.
