Christmas Message 2006
Very
Reverend Fr Iakovos Tsingounis, Mr Angelo Sardellis, Acting-President of the
Management Committee, Mr Constantine Baltas, Honourary President, Mr John
Zafiropoulos – President of the Trustee Committee, Members of the Management
Committee, the Trustee Committee, the Philoptoxos and the Youth Association,
Ladies and Gentleman, boys and girls.
We are soon about to hear the Dismissal Hymn for Christmas from the choir.
The birth of Christ has shone forth like another sun, the light of the knowledge of God to all humanity.
After the fall of Adam and Eve, all of mankind became deceived in the darkness of the ignorance of God. Fallen man had lost and forgotten the true God and he lived in the darkness of deception.
God came for all humanity. He came as a man out of His great love for us. And in doing so, the people who lived in darkness saw a great light and upon those people who sat in the region and shadow of death, light dawned.
This is why on Christmas day we sing with joy the dismissal hymm, Η γέννησίς σου Χριστέ ο Θεός ημών, ανέτειλε τω κόσμω το φως το της γνώσεως.
On the eve of Christmas, let us ponder on the fact that God loves us so much, that He become one of us.
Let us ponder of the fact that today, Christ shines forth the true light of the knowledge of Him.
On behalf of the Greek Orthodox Youth Association of Oakleigh we hope that you all have a spiritual Christmas and a blessed new year.
Thank you. Jim Kakavas President Greek Orthodox Youth Association of Oakleigh Sts Anargiri
