Ecumenism and Freemasons
The Ecumenistic Movement which embraces in the name of “love” all denominations that have something good to offer and thus diminished the truth of the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church.
The key premise of the Ecumenistic Movement is that the fullness of truth is not to be found in any one religion or philosophical system. Rather, some truth is to be found in all religions & philosophical systems.
Ecumenism is another form of syncretism. An eclectic approach to “truth” in which one picks & chooses “bit & pieces” in order to mould a new philosophical system or religion.
Ecumenism is highly dangerous for a number of reasons. Firstly, because it aims to disorientate the unadulterated teachings of the One Holy Catholic & Apostolic Church. This would reduce Orthodoxy to yet one more system in which some truth can be found. This, combined with “truths” found in other religions & philosophies would, according to Ecumenism, constitute the “absolute & whole truth.”
Secondly, it subdues the conscience of the faithful under the guise of its “honourable goals.” That is, the goals of world peace, unity & brotherly love. If anyone objects to such Ecumenistic goals, they are considered to be fanatical & unloving and Christians are considered to be unchristian.
All the above is well and good, who would not want all this. However, the Ecumenistic Movement has become the world altar upon which the Truth has been sacrificed.
Ecumenism is man placing himself at the centre, pronouncing his “infallibility” & “defining truth”. Orthodox Christianity is man glorifying God, recognising God at the centre & accepting the truth as revealed by and in our Lord Jesus Christ.
The Freemasons and its sub-branches which use the word “God” but not in the Orthodox Christian content.
For example they place Jesus’ personality to the same level/status with those as they call “Mistes” such as Budha, Mohammed, Confucious, etc..
In addition their practice of their own religious ceremonies is in itself enough evidence that Freemasonry is a religion and not as they prefer to be a social and benevolent Organisation.
Freemasonry is a secret & dark religious system which undermines faith in the only true God. The God which was revealed by Jesus Christ.
As a religious system it demands, in a very subtle way, the rejection and betrayal of a person’s faith. It preys on unsuspecting victims by promising them support & solidarity. They reassure new members that their current religious belief is not an obstacle to join Freemasonry. All religious beliefs are embraced under the “super-religion” of Freemasonry”.
The essence of Freemasonry is totally unacceptable from the Orthodox point of view. The Orthodox Christian faith is absolute. The Orthodox Church:
Those who becomes members of Freemasonry choose to severe & disassociate themselves with the Church.
The Greek Orthodox Church has condemned Freemasonry repeatedly. The Hebrews and Muslims may well be monotheists, (believe in one God) however they do not accept the concept of God as it was revealed through Christ as being the Holy Trinity; ie. The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit.
